If you know the name of the file you want to open, it’s normally fastest to bang its name into Spotlight’s search box and pick from the results. When it comes to finding files, Spotlight and Alfred both have different strengths. The category is a close-run thing, as Alfred is also a decent app launcher, but we find Spotlight a smidgen quicker. Now either click on its name with the mouse or use the keyboard’s down arrow key to scroll down the search results and then press Enter to open the app. Type the first three or four letters of the app’s name in the Spotlight search bar and it should appear under Applications.
